In adult men, Proscar is used to decrease an enlarged prostate (also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH). • are taking any other drug, including any that contains finasteride (e.g., ritonavir, lopinavir, nelfinavir, telaprevir, atazanavir, lopinavir, saquinavir, fosamprenavir, and/or ritonavir)
• have a low sperm count (less than 5 hairs per sperm) or have any active sperm problems
• have low testosterone levels
• have low levels of calcium in your blood
• have a prostate disorder,
• have a condition called urethra that causes hesitation after ejaculation
• are taking any type of medicine for any problem you have as a rule
• are a person who is pregnant or may become pregnant
• have a history of prostate problems, or if you are concerned about your prostate condition

If you are allergic to finasteride, or any of the ingredients in Proscar, or any of the other ingredients, or if you are taking any other medication, including Proscar, talk to your doctor before taking Proscar.

Missed Dose

If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your usual time of day.

Storage

Store Proscar tablets at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Keep Proscar tablets out of reach of children. Store Proscar tablets in a secure location, away from heat, direct sunlight, and moisture.

Proscar tablets can be broken up into quarters, which can be divided into halves or quarters.

You should take Proscar tablets at least 30 minutes before the planned sex, but it should not take longer than 4 hours to start working.
